The SAUC-E Competition

 

The Nessie Project is aimed at participating in the annual Student Autonomous Underwater Challenge Europe (SAUC-E).

This competition challenges a new generation of engineers to build an intelligent vehicle and perform realistic missions in the underwater environment. The teams must comprise a minimum of 75% full time students.

It is sponsored by British Ministry of Defence in association with Southampton University and Heriot Watt University. 

The first Challenge took place in August 2006 at the Underwater Stage at Pinewood Studios, London and Team Nessie was finished in 2nd place. For the official press release click here.
